Book review: Nature Anatomy, by Julia Rothman

September 14, 2015

We love this book! Now that we are diving deeper into our walks in the woods, this book is just what we needed. It’s a nature journal, but it also has lots of info with the drawings. It shows the life cycles of mushrooms, layers of the earth, volcanoes, how rocks are made, fossils, types of landforms, teaches what lightning, thunder, rainbows are. Phases of the moon, movement of earth, water bodies, anatomy of birds, types of insects, leaf identification, butterfly identification. I am even learning a thing or two.

It shows examples of art projects to do with your children. It has been inspiring learning and investigation since the moment we got it. We bring it with us on our walks because it also prompts me to give lessons on earth science that I hadn’t even realized I forgot to teach. If your looking to encourage the wonderment of nature to your children, this is the book for you!
