Praising children, is it a good thing or not?

So I don’t know if you know this but studies have shown that you shouldn’t praise your kids. I don’t know, I mean I’m careful about how I do it, so just in case these studies are correct, I’m not ruining my childrens personality somehow. But something else feels wrong about someone telling me I shouldn’t praise my kid. In relating to the real world, adults praise each other all the time, we support & compliment each other all the...

Fall in the Garden, planning for winter

I’m always practicing being in the present moment but with farming, you always need to be thinking and planning for the next season. Which is winter! Autumn is a transitional time for plant and soil life. Summer grasses are losing their vigour and winter grasses are gaining momentum. Dairy and beef farmers choose this time to broadcast out oat and rye seed to give their stock extra feed during the winter. Autumn is the optimal season to be putting out...

Super moon & total lunar eclipse this sunday 9/27/15

It hasn’t happened in 32 years, and won’t for another 18 years: Sunday evening, a total lunar eclipse will coincide with a “Supermoon.”A lunar eclipse occurs when the Earth is between the full moon and the sun. The Earth’s shadow covers the moon, which often has a red color, hence the “blood” moon nickname.Although it’s completely in the shadow of Earth, a bit of reddish sunlight still reaches the moon.”That red light shining onto the moon is sunlight that has skimmed...

Geopathic stress & clearing it from your home

What is geopathic stress? Geopathic stress is a relatively new term that covers the relationship between earth energies and people’s well-being. “Geo” obviously means “Earth” (or “Land”). The term “Pathic” is a very interesting one. It indicates both a disease, as well as a cure for disease. The most accurate definition of geopathic stress is the study of earth energies and their effect on human well-being. You will find that sometimes there will be more topics included under the same...

How to make your own Dosha specific massage oils

A new fall bedtime ritual I have is putting oils on my body before going in the shower. Going into fall this is very calming and protects against dryness. My children love doing it with me and its a time to bond and another moment to teach my children that they need to be in the bodies, breathing & relaxing ( rather than in their minds & multi tasking). It also gives me time to honor myself, something I had...
